Fourth Planet BBQ is owned and operated by Luke and Gracelyn Marrs — a husband-and-wife team with Texas roots who landed in Florence, Alabama, and fell for the Shoals. What started as a passion for Central Texas-style barbecue has grown into something bigger than we imagined, built on fires, briskets, and faith. None of it has happened because of us alone — it’s what you see in this photo, our family praying together and remembering who we depend on.
At the end of the day, we want Fourth Planet to be more than great barbecue — a place built on faith, family, and hospitality, where people feel welcome and leave a little happier than when they walked in.

Our barbecue starts with the traditions of Central Texas—quality meat, simple seasoning, oak wood, clean smoke, and plenty of time. We believe great barbecue doesn’t need to be complicated. We cook low and slow over real wood, tending the fire and letting each piece of meat tell us when it’s ready.
There are no shortcuts and no rushing the process. Our briskets spend 14+ hours on the pit building the dark bark, smoke, and tenderness that define Central Texas barbecue.
